Through a general mailing, ALL RESIDENTIAL Postal Service customers in the 55744 Postal Code Area received an unsolicited copy of the Quran from the Book of Signs Foundation. All the information we have available to us indicates that such a mass mailing of Qurans has never been done anywhere in the United States.
There must be a reason for the sending of a Quran to every household in this Postal Code. The vast majority of Americans have never seen a Quran let alone read it or any part of it. We know that CAIR, ICNA, ISNA and others (front organizations for the Muslim Brotherhood) have a substantial, ongoing and continual message that Islam is a religion of peace and love and the proof of their claim is in the Quran. How could a population that has neither seen nor read a Quran dispute this?
We have reviewed the Quran sent to the 55744 Postal Code Area and have found it to be highly sanitized and whitewashed. By this we mean that the word selections and phrasing in this version have been selected to show the Quran is tolerant, peaceful, passive and, even, benign.
Words do mean something! This version uses the term “struggle” where others use “jihad (holy war)”; “strike” where others use “cut off (decapitate or amputate)”; “pagan” where others use “polytheists (Christians)”, “unbelievers (in Islam)”, “infidels”; and many others. In some cases, phrases have been altered in such a way as to hide what most Westerners would find exceptionally objectionable (having sex with pre-pubescent girls).
Below is a selection of the same verses from the Quran. The first in each is the verse from the Book of Signs Foundation version. Their version is followed by a selection of the same verse from other accepted sources and identified as such. Read these and see if they carry the same meaning. Is “struggle” the same as “jihad”; is “defeat” the same as “slaughter”; is “strike” the same as “cut off”? Then, decide for yourselves if the Book of Signs Foundation version is softer and more benign or, as in the case of 65:4 completely misleading. In the end, if they cannot be truthful in their own sacred text, how can they be taken as truthful in anything they say. Do not take our word for these translations. Look them up for yourselves at http://corpus.quran.com (note: The Dakdok Version is not available on that site).
Quran 9:5
Book of Signs Foundation Version: “But when the forbidden (four) months are over then fight and kill the (distrusted) pagans wherever you find them, and catch them, attack them, and stay waiting for them in every stage (of war); But if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then make it easy for them: Verily, Allah is Often Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Dakdok Version: “So when the forbidden months are passed, so kill the polytheists wherever you find them, and take them [as captives] and besiege them and lay in wait for them with every kind of ambush; so if they repent and perform the prayers and bring the legal alms, so leave their way free. Surely Allah is forgiving and merciful.”
Sahih International Version: “And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
Mohsin Khan Version: “Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikun (see V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, then leave their way free. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Quran 9:73
Book of Signs Foundation Version: “O Prophet! Struggle hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their home is Hell- Truly an evil place (to hide).”
Dakdok Version: “Oh you prophet, perform jihad against the infidels and the hypocrites, and be harsh with them. And their abode will be hell, and evil is the final place.”
Sahih International Version: “O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.”
Mohsin Khan Version: “O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, – and worst indeed is that destination.”
Quran 47:4
Book of Signs Foundation Version: “Therefore, when you meet the unbelievers (in battle), strike hard at their necks until you have completely defeated them. Bind the captives firmly. When war lays down its burdens (and ends), (then is the time for) either kindness or negotiation. Like this (you are commanded); if it had been Allah’s Will, He could have ordered their execution; however, in order to test you, He lets some of you fight with others. But He will never let the deeds (of) those who are killed in Allah’s way be lost.”
Dakdok Version: “So when you meet those who became infidels, so strike the necks (decapitation) until you have made a great slaughter among them. So firmly bind them. So let there either be free dismissals or for a ransom, until the war is over. In this way, and if Allah wills, he will take vengeance on them, but he would rather test some of you by the other. And those that were killed for the sake of Allah, so he will not let their works go astray.”
Sahih International Version: “So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds.”
Mohsin Khan Version: “So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah’s Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islam), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allah to continue in carrying out Jihad against the disbelievers till they embrace Islam (i.e. are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire) or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allah’s Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost.”
Quran 65:4
(Editor’s Note: This verse relates to men divorcing wives. Divorcing a pregnant wife is not permitted. The waiting period is to insure that the wife is not pregnant. The fact there is a waiting period to see if a pre-pubescent girl is pregnant is particularly disturbing. It must be noted, the Book of Signs Foundation version ignores this fact.)
Book of Signs Foundation Version: “Such of your women who have passed the age of monthly courses. For them the prescribed period, if you have any doubts, (the period) is three months, and for those who have no courses (it is the same). And for those who carry (life within their wombs) their period is until they deliver their burden, and for he who fears Allah, He will make their paths easy for him.”
Dakdok Version: “And for those of your women who despair of the menstruation, if you doubt [that they may be pregnant], their prescribed waiting time is three months, as well as for those who have not yet begun menstruation. And for the pregnant ones, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah, he will make his affair easiest.”
Sahih International Version: “And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him of his matter ease.”
Mohsin Khan Version: “And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the ‘Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death] . And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens), and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him.”
YOU BE THE JUDGE! DOES THE BOOK OF SIGNS VERSION CARRY THE SAME MEANING AND TONE OF THE OTHER TRANSLATIONS OR NOT?
